Nestled between the vibrant scenery of i-City and the laid-back kampung charm of Padang Jawa lies a double-storey intermediate terrace house with a unique loft space. Despite its current guise of darkness and gloom, this partially-furnished subsale house holds immense potential. Our client, with a vision fueled by the tranquility of Japanese minimalism and the warmth of Scandinavian design, seeks to breathe new life into this space. With a desire to create a haven of comfort and peace, they embark on a Japandi-inspired transformation with us.

We count ourselves fortunate to have clients who offer us unwavering confidence in crafting their dream spaces for husband and wife with a toddler. We guide them with design choices and decisions throughout the entire design and build process. With a crystal-clear brief from the get-go, our clients have entrusted us with the transformation of their home's heart - the ground floor's communal spaces and the Master Bedroom on the first floor.

In home design, the foyer serves as the opening chapter, setting the initial ambiance for the entire narrative. In our quest to reimagine such crucial place, we introduced a new single-and-a-half-leaf main safety door in place of the existing long dark-tinted glass sliding doors that lead residents directly into the Living area. The new safety door has completely changed the journey into the home by guiding its residents and guests into an inviting foyer space adorned with a pre-existing skylight. A couple of arched windows with black frames are also introduced in place of the existing sliding door to allow natural light and ventilation into the interior space.

To further enhance the welcoming atmosphere, we recommend refurbishing the adjacent laminated partition wall by the staircase, employing a lighter and warmer color palette. This revitalized space not only sets the tone but also transforms the once-overlooked partition wall into a compelling focal point upon entering the home.

The TV cabinetry in the Living Area showcases elegant symmetrical arch openings on either side, harmonizing with similar arch elements present in the common areas. These arches echo through the wall mural in the Foyer, the newly introduced arched windows, and the inviting arched opening leading seamlessly into the Kitchen. The Dining area that flows from the Living area is kept minimal to allow the bespoke TV cabinetry takes all the limelight. This design choice not only creates visual continuity but also fosters a sense of cohesion, transforming the living space into a curated and connected environment.

Stepping into the heart of the home, where the aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingles with the warmth of familial bonds, the Kitchen is inspired by the soothing and comforting hues of a steaming latte - from finishing choices of off-white and woodgrain laminates and rattan webbing to its matching pair of quartz stone for countertop and backsplash to its gleaming warmth from the brushed gold pull handles.

Despite its understated simplicity, this culinary space boasts a thoughtful spatial layout, seamlessly blending functionality with aesthetics. From the storage zone to the cooking area, the breakfast nook to the laundry corner, each zone is meticulously crafted to enhance efficiency without compromising on style. Through meticulous space planning and strategic design choices, we've harmonized the kitchen and laundry areas, transforming them into symbiotic spaces that complement each other effortlessly.

Every corner of this Kitchen holds the promise of hidden treasures. Within its confines, lies a hidden pantry cabinet, a clandestine haven for kitchen essentials. Behind the veil of rattan folding doors, the rice cooker, air fryer, toaster, and coffee machine find their cozy abode, neatly tucked away yet easily accessible when needed. We have integrated a power track and concealed LED lighting into the joinery, elevating the functionality of this nook to new heights.

Beyond its traditional role as a mere laundry zone, the laundry counter emerges as a beacon of innovation and practicality. It does not only hosts a pair of front-load washer and dryer units but also our client's yet-to-be-installed water dispenser. Yet, amidst this convergence of appliances, we designed it to be visually clutter-free from tangled wires and unsightly pipes and tubes. Through meticulous planning, we have devised a system to discreetly conceal the water inlet and outlet tubes and piping along with its electrical wiring for both washer and water dispenser units.

In the kitchen and laundry area, every detail is meticulously curated to uphold a sense of streamlined elegance. Now, every task—from folding clothes to brewing the perfect cup of coffee—is bathed in the gentle glow of practicality and efficiency.

A spacious master bedroom is a coveted luxury. Yet, without thoughtful spatial planning, even the grandest of spaces can succumb to clutter and chaos over time. At the heart of this transformation lies the introduction of a louvered-screen, a subtle yet transformative addition to the bedroom's layout. Not merely a decorative element, this louvered-screen serves a dual purpose: It acts as a gentle boundary between the sleeping area and the wardrobe, without sacrificing flow or cohesion. With its strategic placement, the louvered-screen also functions as a landing for the bedroom door when open, ensuring effortless navigation and unimpeded access.
