This double-story intermediate terrace house with a side lawn in Bandar Seri Coalfields, Sg. Buloh has undergone a very simple transformation in its open common area on the ground floor. Our clients- husband and wife with their first infant child, envision a minimalist open home, where their child can learn to walk and play. For this home, they prefer to stick to mostly loose furniture items, except for the kitchen.
In the original layout plan, the kitchen space is quite limited. With door to the guest bedroom located at the kitchen, there is insufficient space to make way for a double-door fridge, a kitchen peninsula counter and tall unit cabinetry for storage. To improve this kitchen layout, we proposed to relocate the guest bedroom door. Ideally, the new location of this guest bedroom door would be at the opposite of the back door and adjacent to the guest bathroom. However, since there is a structural column at the proposed location, we had to make new adjustment accordingly.
We love our clients’ enthusiasm to opt for a dark and moody color palette for their dream kitchen: Think matt black cabinetry, white quartz stone in greying marble vein effect for the counter top, and paired them with rose gold pull handles in hairline finish. This lovely kitchen features our design-ready Basic Living home package. We introduce matt white flat-surfaced small rectangle tiles for the backsplash in vertical arrangement to guide visual line upwards, creating more space in between cabinetry. The white tone from the backsplash tiles too, creates a seamless look, a continuity from the white counter top. Apart from these apparent kitchen features, it also features essential kitchen needs like pop-up electrical outlets on the kitchen peninsula counter as well as a high-pressure glass washer at the sink.
